About Santiburi Golf Course
Santiburi golf club is set in the hills on the northern coast of Koh Samui. This championship golf course feels as though it has been carved out of the palm trees that feature on most of the holes. Being set in the hills Santiburi offers some spectacular views of the surrounding area. There can be no better example of this than at the 17th hole which is the highest part of the course.

A Simply4golf representative played Santiburi at the end February 2008 and comments: First of all let me make clear that the staff at Santiburi golf club had no indication that I was from simply4golf and that I would be reviewing their golf course. I booked a package that included return transfer from my hotel, 1 round of golf, caddy, buggy, towel, 2 bottles of water and 2 energy drinks.

The pick-up at the hotel was slightly late and got me to Santiburi just before my tee off time. Luckily the course was not too busy and I managed to warm up on the driving range before teeing off later than my scheduled time. If you are a golfer who likes to walk straight on to the first tee then this is fine, otherwise I would recommend asking for an earlier pick-up than the one offered by the course.

That aside the reception I received when I arrived at the Santiburi golf club was excellent, my golf clubs went in one direction and I was escorted to the pro shop where I signed in and picked up my towel and drinks. I was then shown to the locker room and then onto the golf course where I was reunited with my golf clubs and introduced to my caddy. Let me say that throughout my round the caddy was excellent not only giving me the yardages, but also marking my ball on the green, repairing pitch marks, giving me lines off the tee and warning me of any trouble.

The golf course itself was in excellent condition. It has a very tropical feel with palm trees in view on most, if not all of the holes. The views while you are playing Santiburi are marvellous and you have plenty of time to admire them because your caddy sees to everything else. This is a golf course that requires a lot of thought and certainly not a course where you reach for the driver at every par 4. Take for example the second hole, after a fairly gentle start to your round with the par 5 first the elevated second tee sees a tight fairway and a stream crossing it just before the green. I took 4 iron here for safety which left me a sand wedge to the green.

In summary the Santiburi golf course is fantastic and a must for any golfer travalling to Koh Samui. Even if you are on a family holiday it would be a real shame to miss the opportunity to play this course. You have no excuse because the club has everything you need for hire right down to the golf shoes. All the staff at the course are excellent and a real credit to Santiburi Golf course.
