Course Layout
Situated approximately 4 km west of Albufeira the Salgados opened in 1994. Built on uncharacteristically flat land this Pedro de Vasconcelos designed golf course has a links style feel to it.
There is an abundance of water on the course, which is clearly evident on the par 5 sixth hole which has water running its entire length. Water also has a major part to play at the par 3 twelfth. Measuring just 130m it should not be difficult but the tee shot over water can play with your mind. The fact that water comes into play on most holes combined with the usually strong coastal winds requires the golfer to think their way around the Salgados.
Expect to see plenty of wildlife as the course is set alongside a bird sanctuary!
