Golf Rio Real is located just outside the heart of Marbella. This 18 hole complex was designed by Javier Arana and opened to golfers in 1965. Situated in a valley the Rio Real golf course has a variety of mature trees which add to its character and helps present a fair challenge for golfers of all abilities.
The first 3 holes, consisting of two fairly short par 4s and a short par 3, offer a gentle start to your round at Rio Real and a realistic opportunity of starting you round with a trio of pars. The first 9 holes are completed with a 457m par 5, at stroke index 9 you have a chance of ending the front 9 the way you began it – with a par.
The back 9 is arguably the most challenging of the two halves, but it is not until hole number 16 that you reach the most difficult hole. The 457m par 5 sixteenth presents challenges from the word go and course management is a must if you are to have any chance of a par.
