About Phuket Golf Course
Phuket Country Club, which opened in 1989, is located towards the south of Phuket close to Phuket town. The 18 hole old course is built around a large lake which forms one of the most unusual holes in golf. The par 5 10th is actually reachable in 1 - that is if you can make the 240 yard carry.

A Simply4golf representative played the old course at Phuket Country Club early in March 2008 and comments: First of all let me make clear that the staff at Phuket Country Club had no indication that I was from simply4golf and that I would be reviewing their golf course. I arranged pick up from my hotel with the golf course which was competitive when compared with the price of a local taxi. I was pleasantly surprised to find them waiting for me when I arrived in the hotel lobby 5 minutes before my scheduled pick up time.

On arrival at the course I found a very warm and well organised welcome. My clubs were swiftly dispatched to the caddy master and I was shown inside to register and pay for my round – look out for the amazing Koi Carp. I was then escorted to the starter where I met my caddy who then escorted me to the first tee and introduced me to my playing partners.

The course was in good condition and offered a fair test of golf. Most golfers walked the course and all caddies had a pull trolley. The caddies were very knowledgeable and were very attentive throughout the round making sure I kept my intake of water up, repairing all pitch marks and of course giving me yardages. The 10th hole is an interesting one, this par 5 can be played the conventional way or you can attempt to drive the green cutting across the large lake that the fairway curves around. My favourite part of the course was the stretch of 15, 16 & 17 with the 17th being a par 3 island green.

In summary Phuket Country Club is a friendly and welcoming golf course, all the staff are equally friendly and will do all they can to make your day a pleasant one. Finally I would like to give a special mention to my playing partners, Klaus and Bo, who helped to make my round so enjoyable and invited my wife and I back to play as their guests the following week.
