Situated in County Cork on Irelands south west coast the Old Head golf club was designed by a team of three – Ron Kirby, Liam Higgins and Paddy Merrigan. The golf course extends out over 2 miles into the Atlantic Ocean, which not only gives golf at Old Head a unique feel but also offers some stunning ocean views.
The 446 yard par 4 first hole at the Old Head golf course is not an easy start. Keep your drive to the left hand side of this stoke index 6 opener to give you the best view of the green and take an extra club to reach the elevated green. The front nine ends with the longest par 4 on the course measuring 475 yards from the back tee and at stoke index 2 this a very demanding par 4.
The most difficult hole at Old Head is 452 yard par 4 14th hole which requires an accurate drive to miss the strategically placed fairway bunkers.
