Opening in 1989 the Canyamel golf course was designed by Pepe Gancedo. The course offers spectacular views, in fact some say on a clear day you can see the island of Menorca. These views coupled with a wide variety of mature trees, including giant hundred-year-old Chamaerops palm trees, give the Canyamel a very pleasant feel.
Played from an elevated tee the first hole is a gentle dog leg par 4. The tee shot should be played down the right to give the best line in for your second shot. Make sure you don’t drive too far because there are shrubs in the middle of the fairway – 3 wood might be the smart play. The 8th is a nice looking par 3 with water at the back of the green. At 205m and out of bounds on the right this is a demanding hole and you will be pleased if you walk off this one with a par.
The stroke index 1 hole at Canyamel is a tough par 5. If you manage to get a good drive away you will be faced with a tough decision, either laying up with a short iron or attempting to carry the lake with as much as a 3 wood. The final hole is a 164m par 3, the wind can play a key factor here.
