About Ballena Golf Course
This 27 hole complex was designed by one of Spain’s best known golfers Jose Maria Olazábal. Located in the south west of Spain, the course, opened to the public in 1997. With 27 holes and a 9 hole par 3 course you can spend several days at the Ballena complex without feeling that you have played the same course twice.

Ballena boasts one of the largest driving ranges in Europe measuring 350m by 300m wide. There is also an impressive practice chipping area that enables you to practice chip shots up to 60m from sand, rough or fairway.

Holes 1 – 9 called Los Olivos measure 3203 metres. Hole7 measuring 415 metres is the most difficult hole on the complex. The dog leg to the right makes this a tough driving hole. The second shot requires a fairway wood for most golfers and with the well protected green a bogey feels like a par.

Water comes into play on five of the holes of the 3099 metres Las Palmeras section of the Ballena complex. This is clearly evident at the par 3 sixteenth, at 142 metres the tee shot not only has to carry the water, but also the bunkers guarding the front of the green. If you manage to find the green the three tiers make a three putt a real possibility.

The final nine holes, Los Ficus, is the shortest section of the course measuring 2599 metres. Unusually the par 3 22nd hole is the most difficult hole on the Los Ficus. This is due to a combination the length of the hole and the strategically place bunkers guarding the entrance to the green. See latest reviews for Ballena golf club.
