About Aphrodite Hills Golf Course
Aphrodite Hills Golf course takes its name from the birthplace of Aphrodite which it overlooks. Situated near Paphos the course was designed by Cabell Robinson and opened in 2002. Aphrodite Hills is centered around a dramatic ravine which offers some stunning views of the Mediterranean.
The opening hole at the Aphrodite is unusual in that it has an eighteenth century kiln in the middle of the fairway. This is not a normal hazard that you would expect to find on a golf course, but it certainly has you thinking about where to place your opening drive. The stroke index 1 third hole can be played as a par 4 or a par 5 from the back tee - when playing it as a par 5 your drive will have to carry the ravine! There are several tees on the course ensuring that the Aphrodite can be enjoyed regardless of your ability.
The Aphrodite Hills complex is much more that just a golf course. There is a spa with various treatments available and a fitness suite with state of the art equipment. If tennis is your game then try out the tennis academy which has various packages to suit your individual or group needs.

Hole 1 is a 394m Par 4 stroke index 5
The first hole at Aphrodite Hills is a tough start. Measuring almost 400m this stroke index 5 par 4 has an unusual hazard in the middle of the first fairway in the shape of an 18th century kiln – yes an 18th century kiln. With the large green on the left side it is better to play the approach from the right so try to drive to the right side of the kiln. This does leave a slightly longer second shot so make sure you take enough club to carry the green.
Hole 2 is a 367m Par 4 stroke index 13
You may want to take a three wood off the tee and try to position your drive down the right hand side of the fairway. This should leave you with a mid iron approach to a tiered green and a real chance of making a par.
Hole 3 is a 573m Par 5 stroke index 1
The third hole can be played as a par 5 or a par 4. If you play it as a par five you will be faced with an intimidating drive across a canyon. For most golfers this is a three shot par five so try to place your second such that you are left with wedge for your approach to this long green.
Hole 4 is a 405m Par 4 stroke index 3
The fourth is a really tough par 4 with a stoke index 3 tag to prove it. Be careful not to try and cut the corner with your drive as this usually sees you shut out by the trees. The second shot invariably comes up short so take one more club – be happy with a bogey and walk to the fifth!
Hole 5 is a 154m Par 3 stroke index 17
This a gentle par 3 that seems fairly straightforward from the tee, but be careful not to hit too much club if the pin is at the front. This will leave a treacherous putt from the back of the green and may result in a disappointing bogey.
Hole 6 is a 500m Par 5 stroke index 7
This 500m par 5 provides a good opportunity for a birdie if you can carry the two fairway bunkers where the fairway opens out somewhat. No matter weather you are attempting to carry the green in two or simply laying up stay down the left hand side.
Hole 7 is a 210m Par 3 stroke index 9
The wind can be deceptive at this long par 3 which measures 210m. Stay left with your tee shot for your best chance of making par.
Hole 8 is a 323m Par 4 stroke index 15
The 8th hole appears gentle but beware of the out of bounds down the right hand side and water on the left. The ancient olive press in the middle of this fairway may come as a surprise but stay right of this to give you the best view of the green.
Hole 9 is a 362m Par 4 stroke index 11
You complete the front nine with a fairly gentle par 4. Keep your drive down the left hand side where there is more fairway and also a better approach to the receptive green – make sure you stay short of the pin to leave an uphill putt.
Hole 10 is a 508m Par 5 stroke index 10
The back nine begins with a long par 5 measuring 508m making it out of range in 2 for most golfers. The drive is fairly straight forward with a generous landing area, it is your second shot that will decide if you record a par or bogey. Play your second as far right as you can to open up the green and take the water down the left out of play.
Hole 11 is a 390m Par 4 stroke index 8
This is a tough dog leg left par four with three strategically placed fairway bunkers that will catch your drive if you try to take too much of the corner on. Playing right of the bunkers for safety will leave you an uphill shot that always plays on club more than you expect.
Hole 12 is a 188m Par 3 stroke index 16
The first par 3 on the back nine, at stoke index 16, is fairly gentle. The wind is generally helping on this hole so take this in to account with your club selection and play to land short of the green as the ball always runs towards the green. If you are long with your approach you will struggle to make par.
Hole 13 is a 337m Par 4 stroke index 12
Keeping left on this par 4 is must as a ravine runs always done the right hand side. Keep the ball below the pin to give yourself an uphill putt and a real opportunity to make par or birdie.
Hole 14 is a 331m Par 4 stroke index 14
Don’t be tempted to take off too much of the dog leg, a 3 wood or long iron is a wise play at this par 4. Aim just to the right of the bunkers and make sure you take enough club for your second shot, its definitely better to be long than coming up short.
Hole 15 is a 209m Par 3 stroke index 6
All the trouble is left on this long par 3 so make sure you aim left and long. Even then a par is not assured and many golfers are happy to walk off with a bogey 4.
Hole 16 is a 374m Par 4 stroke index 2
This stroke index 2 par 4 is one of the most demanding holes on Aphrodite Hills. Keeping your drive down the left hand side is a most and even then you may still not be able to see the green with your second shot.
Hole 17 is a 145m Par 3 stroke index 18
The last par 3 is the easiest hole on the course, just make sure you play to the heart of the green and a par should be a formality.
Hole 18 is a 484m Par 5 stroke index 4
Play your tee shot to right of the fairway bunker and you will gain extra yards rolling down the slope. You will then be faced with a tough decision because water on the right hand side means that you need to hit a perfect shot to get home in two. Most golfers will play this as a traditional 3 shot par 5.
